"I Am, We Are" Process

The choreographer told me she’d like to use black, white, and purple for the costumes so I gathered inspiration around that. I drew some renderings based on what I found (unfortunately I couldn’t find the original ones I did) and sent them to her for her thoughts. She informed me that my initial designs weren’t what she was hoping for as they fell into more stereotypical ideas of belly dance she wanted to avoid. So I ended up finding readymade belly dance pieces online more in line with what she was telling me. After sending her the things I found, she really liked them and we ordered them. The only snag we ran into was that the choreographer’s costume (she was one of the dancers) wouldn’t have arrived in time, so we found something else to order. Her initial costume was going to be white and the replacement was gray, but I think it still turned out well.
